A Newton telescope is a reflecting telescope invented by Isaac Newton, using a concave primary mirror and a flat secondary mirror to direct light to an eyepiece on the side of the tube. It is popular for its optical performance, simplicity of design and relatively low cost compared to other types of telescopes.
