Celestron eyepieces from the OMNI series feature entry-level optical quality with an apparent field of 50 and a Plssl type optical assembly. Light and compact, they are also suitable for use with binoculars.
With an anti-reflective treatment administered to the lenses, they deliver sharp and contrasting images, especially in the center. Each lens of the eyepiece (4 in number) is circled in black, to limit the appearance of any stray light.
Their apparent field of 50 allows a celestial object observed in a non-motorized instrument to be kept sufficiently in view.
The eye relief of the OMNI 6 mm eyepiece reaches 5 mm, which means that the image remains comfortable up to a distance of 5 mm above the eyepiece.
With a focal length of 4 mm, this eyepiece is particularly suitable for observing objects of small apparent dimensions (planets, Moon, planetary nebulae, etc.) with relatively high magnification (166x on an optical tube 1 meter wide). focal length).
The inside of the eyepiece is threaded in M28.5 x 0.6 mm to screw in filters with a diameter of 31.75 mm (1.25"). Among others, interference filters of type OIII, UHC, H -Beta... are used to enhance the contrast on many nebulae.
