This variable polarizing filter is designed for universal use with a 1.25'' filter thread. It allows continuous adjustment of image brightness, which proves very useful for individually compensating strong contrast differences on various observed objects.
In particular when observing the moon and planets, but also when observing the sun (with an appropriate solar filter), this filter prevents occultation of the finest details. It is also useful with a Herschel wedge and large objective aperture to reduce the brightness of the object being observed to a comfortable level.
The filter has a wide adjustment range of 40% to 1% light transmission and a neutral gray filtering effect, creating both a comfortable and authentic image. It is very easy to use, simply by turning the two halves of the housing to adjust the intensity of the filter according to your preference.
The filter is made from high-quality optical glass and has a black anodized aluminum housing. It also features 1.25'' filter threading on both sides (inside/outside) for simultaneous use with other color filters.
