The Celestron EdgeHD 203mm f/10 telescope is a high-precision instrument designed to deliver exceptional astronomical performance. Thanks to its aplanatic Schmidt-Cassegrain optics, this telescope produces aberration-free images across a wide field of view, both for visual observation and photography.
The EdgeHD optical system is designed to reduce off-axis star coma and provide an astrograph-quality flat focal plane to the edge of the field of view. Unlike many optical models that claim to be « astrographs » but only produce pinpoint stars on a curved focal plane, EdgeHD optics ensure visibly sharp stars even on the largest CCD sensors available today.
The StarBright XLT optical coatings on every surface ensure maximum light transmission across the visual and photographic spectrum, improving resolution compared to telescopes of the same aperture. Additionally, the telescope tube has been redesigned to maximize optical performance every night, with flexible tension clutches to keep the mirror in place and cooling vents to expel hot air.
The EdgeHD is also compatible with the Fastar system, allowing the secondary mirror to be removed and replaced with the HyperStar system to switch to f/2. Each EdgeHD is individually tested to ensure the quality of the surface of each optical component and the performance of the imaging system.
